EVERYTHING WE KNOW ABOUT MANLAR SO FAR.
A NEW ERA FOR THE COSPLAY UNIVERSE
We’re in the year of 2024. A team of cosplayers has just discovered a portal at CCXP that leads to the ruins of a lost city, home to ancient and mysterious technology. Since there was no one there, they did what any reasonable person would do: they turned that place into their home.
ALL ROADS LEADS TO THE TREE OF ALL WOLRDS.
An ancient city, a mysterious technology, the arrival of a team of cosplayers… everything revolves around this gigantic tree. After the great explosion, Seeds of Chaos were sent throughout the cosmos, and where each of these seeds was planted a tree like no other emerged. Its trunk and roots grew strong and twisted, while its branches extended their reach to planets, stars and even entire galaxies. It was named The Tree of All Worlds.
Well, the name pretty much says it all, right? A tree which connects all worlds, but it is way more than that. The Tree of All Worlds is constantly feeding on the spiritual world, absorbing feelings, memories, knowledge, and everything beyond our dimension and its limitations. It is the very memory of the universe.
MANA, THE MAGICAL SAP OF THE TREE.
Everything that the Tree of All Worlds absorbs from the spiritual world is transformed into epic energy, creating this kind of blue sap known as “Mana”.
Our experiments (also known as “poking it until it does something”) have confirmed that Mana is a substance with magical, yet unpredictable properties. Most of the time, it seems to remain in a “dormant” state. However, on very rare occasions,a completely random effect occurs when it touches another element – as it once happened when a random tree branch somehow was transformed into a baby dragon. We are calling this phenomenon The Epic Awakening.
THE GUARDIAN
The place was rather empty, but not entirely empty. Cosplayers were greeted by its only inhabitant: a talking cat named Mecha-Myao, the current guardian of the Tree of All Worlds.
Over the ages, countless cats have held the title of Myao (which stands for “guardian”). The first of them was Nyan-Myao, a being of colossal proportions worshipped by the people of Manlar. Her spirit lives on in the guardians who came after her – all cat-like creatures, but with different avatars and personalities.
MANLAR AND ITS PROFHECY
While we were exploring the area, a fellow cosplayer sought a place to “answer the call of nature”, but found something more than just a bush instead. At first, we thought it was just some kind of painting – a sign of the civilization that left these ruins. But it was more than that: it was a prophecy.
The new Cosplay Universe was built on the ruins of a city called Manlar, which seems to stand for something like "Home of Stories" or "Home of Knowledge".
THE WALL
The following wall was painted by its inhabitants a long, long time ago and depicts the history of Manlar in 4 acts: the origin of its power, Manlar’s civilization at its peak, its decline (unfortunately this part was erased), and, finally, the arrival of the cosplayers.
Hablás manlarian, muchacho?
Cosplayers aren’t always mastering their craft. Some of us are also surgeons, dancers, poets and... and... well, linguists. Thanks to these word benders, it was possible to adapt our alphabet to the ancient Manlar language.
There is still much to be discovered. There are Manlarian inscriptions all over the Cosplay Universe, and we need your help to find out what they mean.
